Comedian/Ventriloquist at Al Getler

January 1979

Al has performed at theaters, casinos, comedy clubs and colleges across the USA. He has been seen on TV and also been the featured speaker/performer at many of the country’s FORTUNE 500 companies’ meetings and business celebrations. He is very comfortable in this environment having achieved the level of Vice President in his own business career. “With a background as a corporate executive many of the organizations that book my act know I understand the boundaries of good taste,” says Getler, “They know they will not be embarrassed in front of their friends, families, colleagues, and bosses.” With a background in marketing, Getler knows also how to include a message when the client requests it. He can incorporate sales motivation, safety and alike in his performances. Employees, colleagues and business partners will come away entertained and informed. Getler is known best for his ability to include audience member information in the heart of his performance. He has crafted this talent over many years and knows how to poke fun at even the most sensitive of people while leaving them in stitches. “I love to see people laugh. But, I especially love to see people laugh at themselves along with the rest of the audience.” Getler thinks ventriloquism holds a very unique place in the entertainment field. “I am used to seeing people look a bit confused when I am introduced as a ventriloquist. Then I transform them into believers in the first three minutes of the show. Once that happens, they fasten their seat belts and enjoy themselves.”

Speaker at Al Getler

January 1999

Al speaks on various leadership, customer service and marketing topics. One of the executives on Al's team writes: "Al also has a phrase that is repeated by all employees at the his newspapers, magazines and neighboring weekly publications: "Be nimble.” At first employees didn't fully understand the concept, but now it is integrated into all day-to-day interactions with customers and fellow employees. No longer is it acceptable to say, "I'm sorry, that's against our policy." Instead, employees instinctively say, "Yes, I believe we can do that." Or if the request really is impossible, the employees know that instead of saying "No, we can't do that,” they offer reasonable and often better alternatives. And when one department puts up a roadblock to another department, they say "Hey, you're not being nimble," and it opens people's eyes to the problem. It's a culture of adapting to change and improved customer service that Al has fostered since his arrival."
